Resume and Interview Seminar

Canadian-Chinese Professional Accountants Association (CCPAA) is going to host a seminar on Resume and Interview on Sunday, Feb 21, 2016 at the North York Central Library.

A well written resume is the key to a new career, whereas the interview skills determine the final result. This seminar is prepared by CCPAA to help educate job seekers regarding good resume written and tips for interview. On top of that, we have also invited 2 accountants from main stream accounting firms to share their experience working at the firm with you and how they got hired initially.

Seminar Structure

The seminar is composed by 4 Sections:

1:30 PM – 5:00 PM, Feb 21, 2016 Sunday Toronto, Canada

1:30 pm – 2:00 pm   – Registration/Coffee/Network

2:00 pm – 2:45 pm  – Section 1: How to write a good resume (Shelly Gu)

2:45 pm – 3:30 pm   – Section 2: How to conduct a good interview (Li Li)

3:30 pm – 3:40 pm  – Break

3:40 pm – 4:00 pm   — Section 3: Hiring/Hired Sharing #1 (Sophie K. Chen)

4:00 pm – 4:20 pm   — Section 4: Hiring/Hired Sharing #2 (Zahir Bashiruddin)

4:20 pm – 4:30 pm — Q&A

4:30 pm – 5:00 pm – Networking

Speakers

    • Shelly Gu

Mrs Shelly Gu, Owner of S&SG Accounting Services, is a specialist in accounting field.

Her experience focuses on hiring and training employees, leading a finance team and designing career development for team members. She has particular expertise in matters related to resume writing, interview skills and job related training for new grads seeking accounting positions.

    • Li Li

Li Li is currently a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist at TD hiring for the corporate sector. She started her career in public accounting as an external auditor, and then transitioned to the recruitment industry as a headhunter at Robert Half. She has extensive knowledge of the finance and accounting industry.

    • Sophie K. Chen

Sophie is currently working at a world leading insurance company as an Accounting Coordinator. She demonstrated advanced accounting knowledge. Particularly, she has been working with management and leading a way to shine in the work field. Graduated from Seneca one year ago, her extensive experience in accounting, finance and good presentation of herself on resume and in interview had led her way to the big four on a management level.

    • Zahir Bashiruddin

Zahir is working as a Senior Tax Analyst at Grant Thornton LLP and he mainly focus on domestic tax compliance and tax planning for Canadian corporation, trust and individuals. Before his public accounting firm journey, he started his career at the Canada Revenue Agency as a Tax Auditor, moving onto work as an Appeals Officer and also took part in establishing the Liaison Officer Initiative.
