Energy has moved to the centre of today’s economic shifts. Surging electricity demand, driven by artificial intelligence and data centres, electrification, and EV adoption, is colliding with oil price volatility, evolving trade flows, and a global wave of cross-border investment. In Canada, governments and businesses are responding with major investments in data centre capacity, nuclear and small modular reactors (SMRs), and clean energy infrastructure. At the same time, enterprises expanding across borders must navigate complex tax, financial reporting, operational, and governance realities.
