Speaker’s Bio:

Benson Lo is a Certified Management Accountant with over 7 years of experience in corporate accounting and reporting, financial forecasting, and strategic planning.

Benson has a strong technical background in financial planning and modelling including: short-term and long-term operating and capital budget planning, corporate financial planning and modelling. Benson has extensive knowledge in the strategic corporate planning and direct experience in developing dynamic models not only to use for budgeting in a regulated environment but also to serve the purpose of the Electricity Rate Filing and the Ontario Energy Board filing requirements.

Benson is also experienced in project management and process improvement. He has led and facilitated multiple planning processes, coordinating between different functional groups, managing overall timelines to ensure timely delivery and high accuracy of results.  Benson has also implemented improved processes for better utilization of the financial reporting and planning system and facilitated training sessions for cross-functional teams to increase the overall operational effectiveness.

Benson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Toronto.  He started his career as a Banking Advisor and then acquired his CMA designation.  He has gained extensive experience from the utility sector, commercial companies, as well as banking industry.

Terry Liu currently works as a Senior Manager of Accounting Advisory Services at KPMG Canada where he leads or participates in accounting advisory engagements to help clients resolve complex accounting issues and accounting standards conversions and implementations.  Terry is also on the National Department of Professional Practice of KPMG Canada.  Before joining KPMG, Terry worked in the Corporate Accounting & External Reporting group of Toronto Hydro Corporation where he was a core team member of the company’s US GAAP to IFRS Conversion Project.  Terry also worked as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young Beijing Office.  Terry is a CPA, CGA (Ontario), a CPA(Illinois), and holds an MBA degree from Laurentian University.

Vivian Yu is currently studying Master of Financial Risk Management at University of Toronto and is expected to graduate in 2017. She worked as a Hedge Fund Accountant at CITCO where she received extensive training about Hedge Fund Industry before returning to school. She also worked at CIBC Mellon as a Fund Accountant focusing on Mutual Fund industry. Vivian has finished all exams for CPA, CGA designation. She is a Candidate for Claritas Investment Certificate.

Li Li is currently a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at TD hiring for the corporate sector. She started her career in public accounting as an external auditor, and then transitioned to the recruitment industry as a headhunter at Robert Half. She has extensive knowledge of the finance and accounting industry.
