Overview

You work for a company that until now has been delivering projects following Waterfall. Your new project is asked to be delivered in an Agile way. You know some basics on what Agile is, the need for frequent deliveries, focus on value, self-organizing teams where people collaborate, empirical planning, etc. What now? Where do you begin with your very first Agile project? What to do to get things going and deliver fast?

Using our experience at a large Canadian corporation, in this session, we will walk you through our journey of how we approached projects with teams new to Agile. We will talk about the following tools and techniques: Project Canvas, Value Stream mapping, and Story mapping. Through a workshop, participants will have an opportunity to learn how to apply these tools and techniques right away to your Agile projects. These tools and techniques are valuable to existing Agile projects too!

Key Lessons Learned

Audience will learn how to:

•Quickly generate scope from the project goal, using the Project Canvas.
•Identify system changes based on project scope, using the Value Stream map.
•Organize work from the changes identified and create a release plan, using the Story Map.
