Canadian-Chinese Professional Accountants Association (CCPAA) is hosting a seminar on Workplace Professional Communication Skills for accounting professionals on Sunday, June 26 2016 at the North York Central Library.

Developing the communication skills can help all aspects of the professional life. The ability to communicate information accurately, clearly and as intended, is vital and should not be overlooked. This Seminar is designed for accounting professionals who want to improve their office communication skills (vocally, written and non-verbally). The seminar will help these professionals do a more efficient work, maintain a healthier relationship with their co-workers and seize the career development opportunities.
There will be four topics presented in this seminar and useful skills/tips will be presented for accounting professionals at different stages in their careers.

- Laura Xi
Risk and Assurance Consultant, Ontario Treasury Board Secretariat, Internal Audit Division
Laura Xi is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA, CMA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) with 12 years of experience in risk management and assurance service in the private and public sectors. Laura previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers Toronto office. Currently she is a Risk and Assurance Consultant with the Internal Audit Division of Ontario’s Treasury Board Secretariat. Laura holds a Master of Management and Professional Accounting degree from the Rotman School of University of Toronto. In her spare time, Laura has volunteered to speak on various topics of professional development for her friends and the accounting professionals in the Chinese community. She enjoys travelling and resides in Toronto with her husband and three-year old twins.

Senior Analyst, Scotia Bank, Statutory Reporting
Jane Lin is the Senior Analyst of Statutory reporting at Scotia Bank.
Jane has over 8 years of financial accounting experience for both Canadian private and public companies.
With solid accounting knowledge of ASPE, IFRS and NFPO accounting policies, Jane works closely with executive management team on various financial projects.
Jane obtained CPA, CGA designation in 2014 after graduated from LA&PS program from York University with an Honors business Administration degree in 2012.
- Leslie Armstrong
Supervisor, Toronto Hydro, Finance Capital Planning and Reporting
Leslie Armstrong is the Supervisor of Capital Planning & Reporting of Toronto Hydro Corporation. Leslie first joined Toronto Hydro in August 2011 and in her most recent role as Senior Financial Analyst she supported the Construction and Streetlighting Divisions.
Leslie previously worked at Labatt Breweries Canada as Commercial Finance Manager and at Fuller Landau LLP as Senior Auditor. Leslie has 7+ years total Accounting & Finance experience.
Leslie holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. She also holds Certified Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation.

Senior Accountant, SCI Group
Christine Zhu, CPA, CGA, CPA (Illinois), Rotman MBA Candidate 2017
Christine has extensive experiences in accounting, finance, risk management and staff training across different companies. Christine is a senior accountant at SCI Group, in charge of various accounting and finance matters. Previously she worked for Deloitte, University of Toronto and Suncor Energy Inc.
Christine holds a Business Administration degree, specializing in Accounting, from University of Toronto. Currently, she is perusing an MBA from the Rotman with intention of specializing in both Strategic Management and Finance.
