This session provides a practical introduction to Power BI, guiding participants through the three key phases of reporting—data extraction, transformation, and reporting. It covers how and where data is stored, best practices for data extraction, and walks through an example of a completed Power BI report. The session offers an overview of the three core components of Power BI—Power Query, Power BI Desktop, and Power BI Service—followed by a deeper dive into Power BI Desktop for building reports with visuals, including Report, Data, and Model views, data types, and measures. Participants will also explore Power Query in greater depth, learning how to prepare and clean data through common techniques such as removing duplicates, handling null values, splitting and merging columns, and merging or appending queries.
